In continuation of the strategic move to enhance the air quality in the state, the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA), in collaboration with the Department of State, US Consulate, Lagos, University of Lagos and Makerere University of Uganda, has installed Low-Cost Air Quality Monitoring Sensors at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) and Gbagada General Hospitals in Lagos.
The installation of the equipment is to boost the State Government’s efforts to improve research and studies in institutions, policy formulation and implementation while addressing environmental pollution and public health, especially pulmonary health care among others across the state.
Speaking on behalf of the General Manager of LASEPA, Dr. Babatunde Ajayi at the installation ceremony at LASUTH and Gbagada General Hospital, the Director, Noise and Emissions Control of the Agency, Mrs. Olabisi Shonibare said the collaboration would have a positive impact on the public health in Lagos.
According to him, “The deployment of the equipment marks a significant leap in advancing environmental research and deepening government’s efforts on air quality dynamics in the state. In addition, the equipment will be instrumental to verifiable scientific data generation that will expand sustainable environmental management practices”.
The General Manager assured members of the public that the Agency is positioned to improve and create a sustainable environment in Lagos.
