The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA), has announced the opening of three additional zonal offices in its effort to serve the residents better while encouraging healthy environmental practices across the State.
The General Manager, Dr. Dolapo Fasawe made this known recently at a roundtable with stakeholders at Alausa, Ikeja, adding that the move is in tandem with the vision of the agency to attain its target of increasing the zonal offices to 20 before the year 2023.
She disclosed that as part of LASEPA’s mission to safeguard the environment and eradicate all forms of pollution, it has become necessary for the agency to open more zonal offices in order to serve a larger number of people seeking LASEPA’s intervention across the state.
The General Manager said: “To effectively serve and reach out to larger society, we increased our zonal offices from four to 20 in a spate of four years. This laudable move was born out of the need to reduce bureaucratic hurdles and also improve response time”.
“Like the existing ones, the new zonal offices will uphold the mandate of the agency and provide succour to citizens negatively affected by all forms of pollution in different parts of Lagos”, she stated.
The LASEPA boss said the need to bring environmental regulation closer to Lagosians is in response to the goal of COP27, which emphasises the urgent need to unite the world through the people in other to tackle climate change.
According to Fasawe, “The additional three zonal offices are located in Mushin, Alimosho III and Kosofe. The Mushin zonal office will cover Idi-Araba, Fadeyi, Palm-Grove, Onipanu, Papa Ajao, and Apapa-Oshodi Expressway; Alimosho III zonal office would be in charge of Ipaja, Ayobo, Ekoro, Command, Ijaiye and Kola, while Gbagada, Oworoshoki, Ifako, Anthony village and Ajao Estate would all be served by the Kosofe zonal office.
The existing 17 zonal offices are located at Apapa I & II, Amuwo-Odofin I & II, Surulere, Lagos Mainland, Lekki, Epe, Alimosho II & II, lkorodu II & II, Orile-lganmu, Badagry, lsolo, Ojo and Agege.
The General Manager maintained that all necessary equipment and manpower have been dispatched to the new offices to facilitate their smooth operations
